Home Mining With The Goldshell CK5

Home Mining with the Goldshell CK5, HS5 or KD5 is easy.

This guide focusses on ASIC Miners USA but could be applied elsewhere

Firstly it's important to remember that the Goldshell CK5 uses 176-267 volts so if you are in the United States you will need a 220V circuit, UK should be fine.

Of course always use a qualified electrician before doing anything and these are things that some people do and not advice (we are definitely NOT Electricians).

Some people in the USA use their dryer circuit if they are just starting out and they would check that the dryer circuit is rated for 30amps or above and then buy the appropriate power delivery unit (PDU) for their outlet and amperage. Here is an example of a PDU for a 50-60amp 220v circuit 

This would allow you to run an ASIC miner or combination of miners up to 40amps (20% safety margin needed). The Goldshell CK5 uses 11amps at 220V so we could run 3 of them on our circuit. Or you could run a combination of Goldshell KD5, CK5 and HS5's that still come under 40amps

Then you would need a hardwire connection to your wifi router (side note home wifi over 2mb a second are usually good enough for mining 3-5 crypto miners) and if you can't run a cable some people use this TP link wifi extender and plug the cable into that into a switch (like this one) and then they can run multiple miners from that location

Of course that gives challenges as you cannot run your dryer and miners at the same time but you could switch it off temporarily or most people find it easier, and cheaper,  to send their laundry away and it more than pays for the bill.
